Dr. Peter McDonnell received his medical degree at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, served as chief resident while completing his residency in ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, and completed his fellowship in cornea and external disease from the Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern CaliforniaHe is listed in Woodward and White’s Best Doctors in America and was named one of the “Best Ophthalmologists in America by Ophthalmology Times..

Dr. McDonnell, is the director and William Holland Wilmer Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. A board-certified ophthalmologist and specialist in corneal disease and surgery, Dr. McDonnell is an international leader in corneal transplantation, and laser refractive surgery and treating dry eye. His research interests include the causes and correction of refractive error, corneal wound healing and microbial keratitis. He has served on the editorial boards of numerous ophthalmology journals and has also served as a consultant to the Department of Health and Human Services. He is also a member of the Allergan board of directors and has signed a confidentiality agreement.

Registration

Advance registration is required. Please register no later than September 25th. Members of the COS can register using the on-line form. If you are registering a guest or if you otherwise owe a fee, use the paper form which can be downloaded in PDF format.
Annual COS dues includes attendance at the monthly dinners. Therefore, there is no charge for members in good standing.*
 
For non-members, guests and members in arrears, the registration fee is $75. Residents & fellows in training are not charged, but advance registration is still required.
If you do not owe any registration fees, you may fax your form to: 847/680-1682.  Or use the on-line electronic registration form.
Members are considered "in good standing" if their dues are now paid.

Target Audience: Practicing ophthalmologists, ophthalmology residents and fellows

Objectives:
 At the conclusion of the learning activities for the 2015/2016 academic year, the participant should be able to:

1. Describe advances in medical and surgical management of glaucoma, retina diseases and corneal conditions.

2. Discuss factors relating to diagnosis and treatment of pediatric eye diseases.

3. List key factors a surgeon should consider when performing combined cataract/glaucoma procedures.

4. Evaluate new options for management of glaucoma, cornea, retina and pediatric eye diseases and describe the pros and cons when utilizing them in a comprehensive ophthalmology. practice.
