Christopher J. Rapuano, MD

Co-Director, Cornea Service and Refractive Surgery Department;
Wills Eye Institute; Philadelphia, PA

Title: "Office and Minor Surgeries for Ocular Surface Diseases"

     Dr. Rapuano is co-director of the Cornea Service and the Refractive Surgery Department at Wills Eye Institute. He also is professor of ophthalmology at Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Rapuano is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in corneal diseases, with a special interest in refractive surgery. He graduated medical school from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, completed his residency at Wills Eye Hospital and a fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. He has published several books, numerous book chapters, and over 130 peer-reviewed articles on corneal diseases, refractive surgery and excimer laser PTK surgery. Dr. Rapuano serves on many committees of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), and is a consultant for the FDA Ophthalmic Devices Panel. He also serves on the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals.

Registration

Advance registration is required. Please register no later than September 22nd.  Members in good standing can register using the on-line form.  If you are registering a guest or if you otherwise owe a fee, use the paper form which can be downloaded in PDF format.

Annual COS dues includes attendance at the monthly dinners. Therefore, there is no charge for members in good standing.*

For non-members, guests and members in arrears, the registration fee is $75. Residents & fellows in training are not charged, but advance registration is still required.

If you do not owe any registration fees, you may fax your form to: 847/680-1682.

* Members are considered "in good standing" if their dues are paid by the time of registration for the monthly meeting.


 

Educational Items

Course Director: Sanjay Rao, MD

Target Audience: Practicing ophthalmologists, ophthalmology residents and fellows

Objectives:
At the conclusion of this learning activity, the participant should be able to:

1. Describe the diseases which occur on the surface of the eye which are treatable surgically.
2. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of performing surgery in the office to treat ocular surface diseases.
3. Explain the key factors which would allow an ophthalmologist to successfully surgically treat ocular surface diseases in the office.

CME Credit

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through joint sponsorship of the Colorado Foundation for Medical Care, Office of Continuing Education (CFMC OCE) and Chicago Ophthalmological Society.
